LATEST NEWS - NEW SCHOOL LUNCH PROVIDER FROM APRIL 2024

We are excited to announce that from April 2024 our school meals will be provided by Edsential.

Edsential is the first catering company in the world to use only sustainable Palm Oil in their menus, working closely with a wide network of environmental and conservation leaders as part of their journey in empowering young people to lead environmental change. Our pupils will be protecting the rainforests and the people and animals that live there all through their school meals!

Edsential carefully sources every bite to bring young people the most sustainable, seasonal, healthy and super tasty food. We know that the provision of good food improves behaviour, growth and the ability to concentrate – leading to happier, healthier children. Our new school menus offer quality food using quality ingredients:

Identity Week 2023

We have just completed Identity Week, which celebrated the fact we are all unique. The whole school took part in many art activities including, art, dance, drama, music, poetry and film making. At the end of the week we all shared the amazing work at an assembly. Well done everyone! You should all be very proud to be YOU!

Monthe in Year 1, performed a poem in front of the whole school to celebrate the fact we are all unique. I thought it was an important message and one that everyone needs to hear and remember. Here he is reading it.

SOME OF THE WORK OUR SCHOOL BUDDIES DO EACH DAY

Our School Buddies.mp4

Our Y6 Buddies work with our younger children at lunch time to help them learn how to play and get on with one-another. They provide lots of different activities and are excellent role models for our KS1 children.

A Tour of Our Learning Mentor's Room

This is our Learning Mentor's room. It is where Julia Shutt our Learning Mentor works with children either one to one, in small groups or classes. As you can see, it is a very tranquil and calm room with lots of resources to support our children with their mental wellbeing. Thanks to our Buddies for making this film.

    First Aid Changes
Good morning Parents and Carers, From today, if your child has been given first aid for a minor injury, such as a graze or fall, they will be given a 'Yellow First Aid Sticker' that will show they have had treatment. If they come home wearing one of these stickers this will mean they will have received treatment such as a cold compress or medical wipe for a minor injury. Bumped heads and Significant Injuries If your child has a bump to the head, a bumped head note will be sent home with them and your class teacher will inform you of this. If there is a serious head bump or other significant injury, school will carry out first aid, make immediate contact with you and will advise you on what next steps to take. Kind regards Mr Moore

Information about a new TikTok craze
Good afternoon Parents and Carers, I have been made aware that there is currently a TikTok craze that is being promoted with young children. The game is called 'Red Door, Yellow Door'. The game involves children trying to put one child into a trance like state, by rubbing their fingers on a child's forehead and chanting red door, yellow door or any other coloured door. This can make the child dizzy and can cause upset. There are many clips online that show children becoming distressed whilst playing this game. I am sending this information out to you so that you can make sure your child does not play this game or is watching it online. As you know, each month I send home information about online safety as it is vital we try to educate our children to keep them safe both online and in the environment they play in. Kind regards Mr Moore

    School Lunches Review and Update
Dear Parents and Carers, Thank you for your valuable feedback regarding School Lunches. I have taken into account your comments and we have started to look at different school lunch providers and with your feedback we will hopefully find one that meets the needs of your children. Before we change provider, we will also be looking at the time children are given and see what changes can be made now to our current system. An online ordering system would be welcomed (85% of parents would like this) and hopefully this would ensure you have a variety of choice (67% of parents would like this) and also will guarantee your child’s lunch. I also want to try and make sure we keep the cost reasonable whilst offering a better service, giving you more choice and control over your child’s lunch. For now, if you believe your child may be entitled to free school lunches please contact the main office and find out how to apply. Finally, we hope to be with a new provider for the summer term. I will keep you informed of any changes. Results of Review: Do you think that the current school meal service is value for money? Yes 59% No 38% Not sure 3% Do you think there is enough choice for lunch? Yes 32% No 67% Not Sure 1% Would you prefer to have an online system for ordering your child's lunch? Yes 85% No 12% Not Sure 3% Kind regards Mr R Moore Headteacher
